Borough Market: Celebrating Our 21st Business Anniversary
As part of our 21st business anniversary, for this blog, we are looking at a regeneration project we carried out at Borough Market in London.
For this blog, we are looking at a regeneration project we carried out at Borough Market in London. We project managed work to complete the refurbishment of Three Crown Square in the market and oversee the build of a new restaurant shell occupied by Roast Restaurant. Working on behalf of specialist regeneration consultant, Civic Regeneration and alongside award-winning architects, Greig & Stephenson Architects, we project managed the successful completion of this area of the market contributing to the tourist destination it is today.
During the build programme archaeological monitoring work was carried out by MOLA (Museum of London Archaeology) and basement cellars were opened up to reveal bomb damage repairs from WW2.
The cast iron portico building structure that formed part of the restaurant shell was recycled from the Floral Hall at Covent Garden which was dismantled as part of the reconstruction of the Royal Opera House in the 1990s. In 2008, this portico was given Grade II listed status.
